Snoop Dog and Rastafari

Marley Life and Legacy – a film by Kevin Macdonald – Buy this film

Snoop dog is now Snoop Lion. It looks like the Rasta seed is germinating in all sorts of unlikely places. There is no doubt Snoop Dawg is a legend in his own right and now he can allow his creative talents to fuse with the one drop and loving Rastaman vibrations in reggae music. This is a profound transformation and can influence a whole generation of hedonism and violence that has spawned from the rap industry. The Rastafarian way of livity is based on humility and one love and a rejection of the systems of Babylon and fear that hold us all down and prevent us from being truly free to express our individuality.

It is relevant and interesting to read the metaphysical interpretation of Lion in the Bible:

Courage, fearlessness, initiative, life. We must have the courage to enter fearlessly into the overcoming life and into the understanding of things. But courage alone will not do. We must have reverence of spiritual things, a devotional attitude, in order to receive spiritual inspiration. The phrase, ‘of the Tribe of Judah’ bespeaks this reverential nature attitude. Jesus Christ purified his substances and his life and lifted them up until his life became a pure stream of divine life to cleanse us. The 4th Chapter of Revelation reveals the full inner meaning of the atonement of Jesus Christ’s redeeming work on earth. If we understand it fully we shall understand the inner working of the divine principal in and the redeeming work in has on our whole being. The real spiritual life in race consciousness has been disregarded put out of substance, so this lamb of God, the original pure life and substance, appears to be slain in so far as the animal consciousness of man is concerned.  To our awakened and illuminated thoughts, activities and faculties however, it is the lion that is of the Tribe of Judah, that provides a source of new life and substance, which we continually worship praise and love until we realise this new all conquering life more and more fully and perfectly. The Root of David has reference to the love quality in its original purity. This is needed also. We must be rooted in love. The Lions of Daniel 6 10”23 represent the savage thoughts that arise in us when we are accused wrongfully and know that we are innocent.

It is heartening to know that the seed of Rastafari is still growing strong to lead us all into a peaceful and loving future. Snoop dog and his transformation coincide with the release of the new film ‘Marley’ about the life of Bob Marley.  A new generation is being introduced to the social and political prophet, Bob Marley, and his influence on music history and the fall of apartheid in Africa.
