Heptones
Heptones
The Heptones formed in 1965 by Leroy Sibbles Barry Llewellyn and Early Morgan, were a rocksteady vocal group. They were one of the few to make the transition into the reggae era that followed. Working at Studio One with Coxsone Dodd they developed a sly sarcastic sense of humour under pinning their tales of broken hearted lovers.Their first hit Fattie Fattie a ribald song about large women was banned on the radio but the people loved it. Sibbles worked for Studio One as a staff song writer, arranger, bass player assistant producer and talent scout. They worked with many top producers and released several top selling albums in the following years. Leroy left the group in the late seventies but they reunited in the mid nineties with the album Pressure produced by Tappa Zukie.
