Alton Ellis is known as the Godfather of Reggae rock steady. As a solo artist with Studio One recorded Im Still in Love and Breaking Up. His rock steady music is internationally acclaimed. Born in Kingston, Jamaica he started out as a dancer in his teens. Proving his skill in this area he then took as interest in singing. His singing career began as part of a vocal duo named Alton and Eddy and Muriel recorded on the Coxsone label was their first major hit in Jamaica.He then formed a group called Alton and Flames.Recording on the Treasure Isle label their subsequent hits included Dance Crashers, Girl Ive got a date and Rock Steady.As a solo artist with the Studio One Label in 1967, he created an enormous amount of hit songs like Im still in Love, Breaking Up, and Im just a Guy.The album Rock and Soul was a extremely popular.Alton has received many awards in recognition of his outstanding achievements as an artist and for his contribution to the Reggae Music Industry.
